It’s A Question Of Balance ®  radio show balances the intellectual with the creative, exploring whether we have more in common than divides us through thought-provoking conversations – out and about with people on the street on different topics, and in the studio with inspiring guests from the arts. Balance is not a compromise. Balance is truth distilled from many places creating cohesive understanding.

This week as her special guest from the arts Ruth Copland interviews Ann Leckie, New York Times best-selling author of the Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. Clarke Award winning novel Ancillary Justice, the only novel in history to win all the major Science Fiction Awards. Ancillary Justice is the first book in Ann Leckie’s highly original debut space-opera Imperial Radch Trilogy, the other two books being Ancillary Sword and Ancillary Mercy. Her highly anticipated new book is just about to be released and is called Provenance. Ruth Copland and Ann Leckie talk about why she writes science fiction, her process to write a book, the complex world of the Imperial Radch, whether science fiction can help us make sense of our own world, what motivates her to write, and her inspiration for her new book.

If you enjoy the interview, you can meet Ann Leckie in person at Bookshop Santa Cruz on September 28th at 7 PM when she talks about her new book Provenance. More info at www.bookshopsantacruz.com

“It’s A Question of Balance ® so rare among radio talk shows, lets its subjects breathe. With her discursive style and pleasingly eccentric range of curiosity, host Ruth Copland each week treats her listeners to two hours of Whole Brain Radio.”
